About Us
The Northern Harmony Quartet
The Northern Harmony Quartet is a small outreach ensemble sponsored by Village Harmony and made up of veterans of the larger Northern Harmony ensemble directed by Larry and Patty. The singers each year include some of the best singer-teachers from Village Harmony summer camps.
The four young singers in the current spring 2010 incarnation of The Northern Harmony Quartet are Stefan Amidon, Zara Bode, Suzannah Park and Nathan Morrison.
Suzannah Park comes from a family of three generations of traditional musicians and story-tellers and has been performing for most of her life. She has been teaching singing for many years and at Village Harmony camps for the past nine years as one of their most popular teachers. She has recently been the featured singer and musical advisor for Revels Christmas performances in New Hampshire, Texas and Massachusetts. Her powerful singing voice and charismatic teaching style make her an extremely valuable teacher and a pleasure to hear.
Nathan Morrison is a fine tenor, banjo player and jazz piano man and has toured extensively with VH and NH. Growing up in Vermont next door to NH director Larry Gordon, music has always filled his life. Currrently living in North Carolina, he performs widely as a duo with his wife Suzannah Park, much to the delight of audiences across the country. His easy-going manner and love of singing is a joy in any workshop or concert setting.
Zara Bode first drew attention with the highly decorated a cappella group, 5-alone. She has since studied musical theater at the University of the Arts, toured with NH, and works in New York City arranging and recording background vocals in the studio. She tours extensively with the band The Sweetback Sisters. A native Californian but currently settled in Brooklyn, NY, Zara is a natural performer and teacher. Her soulful singing is not to be missed.
Stefan Amidon grew up singing in his own family’s band, The Amidons as well as with VH/NH. He is a prized bass singer and is the percussionist of choice for several of America’s favorite contra dance bands. Since graduating from Oberlin Conservatory he has enjoyed playing drums in jazz bands big and small and as the percussionist and harmony vocalist in The Sweetback Sisters honky tonk band. He is a treat to hear!
