Teen Residential Camp

Led by Amity Baker, John Harrison, and Mary Cay Brass.
This camp is especially for teenaged singers new to Village Harmony and for those who can’t commit three weeks to a traveling camp. Three accomplished choral directors—all known for their engaging, infectiously joyous teaching styles—join forces for what promises to be an extremely spirited camp session. Mary Cay will concentrate on music from the countries of former Yugoslavia and will lead instrumentalists in a Balkan and contra-dance band for folk dancing and to accompany some of the concert pieces. Amity will lead lively Spanish Renaissance pieces, shape-note songs and contemporary works. John will teach an eclectic array of traditional and contemporary gospels and spirituals (as well as his own gospel- and jazz-inflected original compositions). We will have three concert performances.

The Roundhouse, Colrain MA
This marvelous 14-sided facility is filled with ingenious and fanciful detail work. The main room is round, with an encircling balcony and a three-story domed ceiling. There are ample nooks and corners for reading, relaxing and socializing. Most beds are in small sleeping cubbies resembling ships’ berths, radiating off a circular hallway. There are also a number of private sleeping rooms, both in the house and in the adjacent small cottage, plus tent space on the land.
