Adult Singing Week General Overview

Village Harmony adult weeks are non-auditioned, inclusive programs for people who love singing together. Each camp has three music leaders, often including native teachers who bring first hand expertise in particular traditions.

Like all of our camp programs, these adult weeks are relaxed and non-competitive, even as we emphasize authenticity and absorbing the spirit of each musical tradition.

Written music may distributed for some songs, while other genres might best be taught by ear. Virtually everything will be taught by example.

The framework of these camp weeks is communal, with everyone taking turns to help prepare meals and clean under the supervision of a head cook. The menu will be primarily vegetarian, responsive to the tastes, needs and culinary talents of our camp participants. Extra-curricular events usually include an afternoon off for hiking, an elaborate Georgian-style supra (feast) evening and a cabaret night.

The programs often conclude with an informal, low-key concert.
